Some More Facts About Brain
- Ever thought why, you dream falling from a height and wake up assuming it to be real? This is because our mind simply cannot differentiate between the "Reality" and what is "Imagination". Even if you're dreaming, your brain thinks of that to be actually taking place and directs your body to act accordingly and this is also the reason why we sometimes take twists and turns in our sleep.
- There is a stage in our sleep known as Rapid Eye Movement or REM Stage when the brain is almost as active as it is when we are awake. During the REM Stage, people face a state of temporary paralysis as the brain signals the spinal cord to cease the movement of the arms and legs. This acts as a protective mechanism to prevent injury that might be caused by acting out our dreams.
- Ever heard about people walking in their sleep? This is because of the REM Sleep Behavior Disorder where brain is not able to signal the spinal cord to activate paralysis and this leads to people acting out their dreams.
- A Human Brain processes 50,000-70,000 thoughts every day out of which, as seen in many people, 60-80% thoughts are negative.
